![]() ![]() I still enjoy the lead character Ret Det Kermit Hodges but he's been wasted here. ![]() I felt the character of Holly to be particularly annoying and her character is full of lazy stereotypes. It was as if King had become bored with the characters and was writing only to fulfil a contractual agreement. It was ridiculously far fetched with no real suspense, no shocks, no unexpected twists or turns and next to no new character development. I found 'End of Watch' to be far below average, in fact for a Stephen King novel it was outright lazy. Which leads us to this final chapter of the trilogy: 'End of Watch'. The second instalment was distinctly average having lost the dark edge of its predecessor. The first novel Mr Mercedes was brilliant, dark, brooding and full of suspense. This trilogy has steadily declined over the three novels released. ![]()
